The Falmouth and Penryn GP Locality includes the four GP practices in the towns.
The locality is semi-urban with a number of smaller outlying settlements and a total of approximately 44,000 patients. The main acute hospital is in Truro which is approx 12 miles away. Within this locality is the main campus for University College Falmouth. During term time the population of this locality substantially increases. This creates increased demand for GP services. In addition, Falmouth is a tourist destination.

Falmouth Community Hospital is located in this locality which provides not only in patient beds but also minor injury units and out patient clinics.
The Falmouth and Penryn locality is part of a wider group called Carrick Commissioning Consortia. The Consortia covers the Coastal Cluster, Truro and Falmouth and Penryn.
The Carrick Consortia has been an established group of GP practices for at least 12 years and comprises GP and practice manager representatives from each surgery. This consortia is committed to achieving the best use of local health resources and achieving as much care as possible as near to the patient’s home as possible.
