Newquay GP Locality
The Newquay GP Locality comprises two practices in the town and their 27,730 patients.
The area is a small discrete area based on the popular holiday town of Newquay. Newquay increases in population size dramatically during the summer, holiday, months but has a tourist industry that is now 12 months a year.
See the locality's GP surgeries page.
The GP Lead for Newquay GP locality is Tamsyn Anderson.
There is a community hospital in Newquay which provides in patients beds, a minor injury unit and outpatient clinics.
The locality led the way for Cornwall with the Newquay pathfinder. This is now forming the cornerstone of the future work as members seek to develop and learn from the scheme. The local initiatives include:
- forming a new group to lead and deliver the integration work;
- review the criteria for referral for the Newquay Living Well co-ordinated service;
- consider how best to support care and residential homes; and
- organise and deliver educational cafes.
The Newquay practices are also considering the dramatic increase in the population of Newquay and how they might best meet the increasing needs of the population. This will involve working with the local council and people as well as other organisations.
