The Newquay GP locality is based on the holiday town of Newquay.
The Newquay GP Locality is a small discrete area based on the popular holiday town of Newquay. Newquay increases in population size dramatically during the summer, holiday, months but has a tourist industry that is now 12 months a year. There is a community hospital in Newquay which provides in patients beds, a minor injury unit and outpatient clinics.
The locality led the way for Cornwall with the Newquay pathfinder. This is now forming the cornerstone of the future work as members seek to develop and learn from the scheme.
This locality is also a Primary Care Home site. One of the new initiatives includes the development of leg ulcer groups.
The Newquay practices are also considering the dramatic increase in the population of Newquay and how they might best meet the increasing needs of the population. This will involve working with the local council and people as well as other organisations.
