Are you passionate about making sure the public’s voice remains front and centre of decisions that are made about our health and care system? If you are, then come and join our Governing Body to champion public involvement and its decisions in our work.
We’re looking for someone who can inspire trust and respect with others and is skilled at building effective relationships; is comfortable talking to patients about their experiences of health and care services and confident debating and challenging in formal meetings, sometimes in public. As a lay member, you will have the resilience and courage to take tough decisions when they are needed.
Your focus will be strategic and impartial and you will provide an external view of NHS Kernow’s work. You’ll have a proven track record of understanding engagement techniques and involving the public in decisions that are being made about services, and ensuring their voices are heard.
You will also have a good understanding of health and care issues in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and the capability to understand and analyse complex issues and data, balanced with a general understanding of good governance and the difference between governance and management.
To apply, please click here for more information and an application form. The closing date for applications is noon on Friday, 7 September, with interviews planned to take place on Monday, 24 September.
You can also speak to Dr Iain Chorlton, Chairman, or Jackie Pendleton, Chief Officer, by calling 01726 627942 or Trudy Corsellis, Board Secretary on 07881 804867. Our three Governing Body Lay Members are also happy to talk to prospective candidates.
